We are happy to announce the release of the official poster for THE CURE and their performance at the recent PinkPop Festival in The Netherlands. This show marked the band's first headlining appearance at the festival since 1986.
When discussing the artwork, Jermaine says:
'I've always read about Robert Smith's very public love of Jimi Hendrix. In some strange way, its always made total sense. Smith has mentioned that Hendrix was the person who first made him want to be a musician.
I had this idea of visually reimagining Jimi's legendary 1967 appearance at Monterrey Pop Festival, but with Smith in his place. The highlight of that performance was Hendrix kneeling before his sacrificed guitar, summoning flames from its strings. Of course, imagining Robert Smith in this role visually would involve some changes - major ones. But I think the vibe is still there.
Smith personally approved this image, btw. He only asked me to add one thing: a wedding ring to his ring finger.'
