This show marked the band's first headlining appearance at the festival since 1986. \u003cbr\u003eWhen discussing the artwork, Jermaine says:\u003cbr\u003e'I've always read about Robert Smith's very public love of Jimi Hendrix. In some strange way, its always made total sense. Smith has mentioned that Hendrix was the person who first made him want to be a musician. \u003cbr\u003eI had this idea of visually reimagining Jimi's legendary 1967 appearance at Monterrey Pop Festival, but with Smith in his place. The highlight of that performance was Hendrix kneeling before his sacrificed guitar, summoning flames from its strings. Of course, imagining Robert Smith in this role visually would involve some changes - major ones. But I think the vibe is still there.\u003cbr\u003eSmith personally approved this image, btw.
